Members collect goods for Donations In Kind

Rotary Australia World Community Service - Donations in Kind

Saturday 31st March – Club Members collect hospital beds donated by Forster Private Hospital. These beds travelled to the district collection centre at Wauchope where they will be loaded into containers to be shipped to a locations in the Pacific region North of Australia. The beds became available through through the efforts of Club Member Lyn Martyn who is a nurse at the hospital. A number of other items collected by Lyn which have been stored at the Rotary shed were also loaded onto the trailer for shipment.

Types of goods in demand - The equipment most needed are items for schools and hospitals or medical centres. Furniture and equipment no longer needed in our schools and hospitals may often be welcome in these developing countries.

Australia Day at John Wright Park

The Talent Quest proved to be a major drawcard

The co-ordination of Australia Day celebrations at John Wright Park has been one of the major projects of the club for many years. This year a talent quest was included in the program and was well supported by school students. The response ensured that the talent quest will be on the program again next year. Winners were Markala Johnston from Coomba Park, Nathan Hokin from Forster, Rachel Hubble from Forster and Rhiannon Summerville from Wingham




November 2011

New BBQ annex constructed at the Tuncurry Museum

Club members worked hard to complete the new BBQ annex in time for the Museum Open Day in November. The extension was constructed of second hand materials to blend in with existing structures. It contains modern facilitied including a stainless steel bench and BBQ. Community support was co-opted which included a donation of electrical cabelling and switches by CENNAJ. Club coordinator Harold Rowe stamped his seal of approval and has arranged a for club meeting night at the Museum to test the facilities.

Windsong Public Speaking Competition

Club hosts an a zone elimination round.

Mathew Thomas represented our club after winning a preliminary round on Monday 12 September. The zone winner was Beau Hebblewhite from Wingham and Mathew Thomas from Forster was runner up. Adjudicators were from Toastmasters with David Little providing the summation.
